Position Title: Research Associate II (Marine Laboratory) (JOB # RC-25-30)

Salary: Grade M, Step 1, $23.91 – Step 7, $29.89 per hour

Temporary, Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Benefits: Full-Time: Social Security, Medical and Dental Insurance, 4 hours annual leave and 4 hours sick leave per pay period, holiday pay, up to 3% 403(b) match based upon employee contribution of 3%.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree in relevant field from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent;

• Three (3) years of work experience relevant to the position;

OR

• Bachelor’s degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent;

• Five (5) years of work experience OR a combination of bachelor’s degree, work experience, and graduate level coursework;

Character of Duties:

• Collect water quality data at priority coral reef monitoring sites around Guam using multiparameter datasondes, pendant loggers, and other instrumentation;

• Collect water samples from selected rivers and carry out spectroscopic analysis of samples or facilitate analysis by a third party;

• Carry out regular calibration of water quality monitoring instrumentation;

• Lead the development of associated protocols and provide training to existing personnel;

• Manage and QC water quality data;

• Prepare data and associated metadata for archival with the National Center of Environmental Information (NCEI);

• Assist with the procurement of instrumentation, calibration solutions, replacement parts, and other items or services required to carry out primary duties;

• Assist with other duties as necessary for project progress;
